Here comes the best fruit pie in the world!  Rhubarb!  When I was young it was called the poor man’s pie! Funny thing about that, everyone has a large planting of rhubarb and I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like rhubarb pie, cake, bread, sauce, and even strawberry/rhubarb jam.

So, I am always happy when I see it shooting up out of the cold ground and watch it closely to see when it is big enough to cut my first pie stalks.  I have the old fashioned, thick stalk kind…but the strawberry plants are great too…maybe a little sweeter. Happy pie making from Gentle Gardens.
