Lasagna Gardens

“A New Layering System for Bountiful Gardens: No Digging, No Tilling, No Weeding, No Kidding!” by Patricia Lanza.  What an excellent idea…when I started gardening…I dug up the sod and spaded in leaves and and raked the soil smooth so I could finally plant my seeds and then the rabbits would enjoy them for lunch.  It wasn’t fair.  One day I was going through my Mom’s gardening books and I found an article  from Rodale Press describing the use of newspapers in between the rows of vegetables to prevent weeds…and another one about using hay as mulch to keep the soil moist…A garden club friend told me about her Lasagna Garden.

What an idea, no digging, no tilling, no weeding no kidding!  Look under Projects and see how we created new gardens with this method.
